RigAssured ("we," "us," or "our") operates the RigAssured web application and mobile app (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.

By using RigAssured, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the Service.

1. Information We Collect

Account & Identity

  • Email address and display name (provided at sign-up via Firebase Authentication)
  • Your assigned role within your organization (e.g., Basic, Advanced, Admin, Owner)
  • Profile details you choose to add (name, contact information)

Organizational Data

  • Sites, locations, and inventory items your organization creates
  • Equipment inspection records, checklists, and audit history
  • Training events, attendance records, and associated notes
  • NFC tag identifiers associated with equipment items and bags
  • Files and photos uploaded to document equipment or inspections

Device & Usage Data

  • Device type and operating system (to support mobile compatibility)
  • Browser type and approximate usage patterns for error diagnostics
  • Offline cache data stored locally on your device via IndexedDB
  • NFC chip UIDs read during equipment scans (associated to your account)

Billing Information

  • Subscription status and plan tier (Free or Pro)
  • Payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe. We do not store credit card numbers or payment credentials on our servers.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide and operate the Service (authentication, data storage, sync)
  • To associate equipment, inspections, and events with your organization and team members
  • To send transactional notifications relevant to your account (e.g., inspection reminders, event updates) — only if enabled
  • To diagnose errors, improve reliability, and maintain security
  • To process subscription payments via Stripe
  • To comply with applicable legal obligations

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your data for advertising purposes.

3. Data Storage & Third-Party Services

RigAssured uses the following third-party services to operate:

Your organizational data is stored on servers located in the United States.

4. Data Retention

We retain your account and organizational data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. If you delete your account, your personal information will be removed within 30 days. Organizational data (equipment records, inspection history) may be retained for a short period as part of routine backup procedures before permanent deletion.

Offline data cached locally on your device is controlled by you and can be cleared at any time through the app's settings.

5. Data Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), token-based authentication, and role-based access controls. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure — we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take reasonable precautions to protect your information.

6. Children's Privacy

RigAssured is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights regarding your personal data, including:

  • Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Correction — request we correct inaccurate personal data
  • Deletion — request deletion of your personal data
  • Portability — request your data in a portable format
  • Objection — object to certain uses of your data

8. Cookies & Local Storage

RigAssured uses session cookies and browser local storage solely to maintain your authenticated session and application state. We do not use tracking or advertising cookies. We do not use third-party analytics cookies.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will notify users via the application or by email. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
